Damage caused by box tree moths

The voracious box tree moth caterpillars prefer to feed on the leaves and bark of the box tree, which leads to severe damage or even the death of the plants. Within a short time, they can completely destroy large parts of the foliage, causing the plants to lose their decorative function in the garden. Infested box trees are also more susceptible to diseases and other pests. Early detection and control of the box tree moth is therefore essential to preserve the health and beauty of the plants.

Control box tree moths with nematodes.

The nematodes can be used as soon as the caterpillars are discovered. They are effective against both small and larger caterpillars. The use of nematodes is very simple. They are supplied in a clay mineral powder and mixed with water and the enclosed wetting agent according to the detailed instructions on the inside of the packet. The box trees are now sprayed with the nematode solution. The more directly the caterpillars / spiders are hit, the better. Ideally in the evening or after rain so that the nematodes remain moist for a long time. Commercially available backpack sprayers are suitable. Ideally, treat several times at intervals of 3-7 days.

How do nematodes work against the box tree moth?

The nematodes actively search for the box tree moth caterpillars and penetrate them. The more directly the nematodes are sprayed onto the caterpillars, the faster they can take effect. The larvae die and the nematodes multiply inside them. The new nematodes go in search of new larvae, which has a lasting effect. The nematodes are completely harmless to humans and pets.
