Nematodes against black vine weevils

Nematodes of the species Heterorhabditis bacteriophora are natural enemies of weevil larvae and can control them effectively and completely biologically. The nematodes are mixed with water and poured into the soil. There they actively search for the larvae and penetrate them. The larvae die and the nematodes multiply inside them. The new nematodes then go in search of more weevil larvae. This creates a lasting and sustained effect until the nematodes find no more larvae.

Application of nematop® against weevil larvae

The nematodes are contained in a natural clay mineral powder. This is simply mixed with water according to the application instructions on the product packaging and poured onto the soil of the affected plants. It is important to ensure that the soil is slightly moist beforehand so that the nematode solution can sink in well and the nematodes can penetrate the soil. We therefore recommend application in damp weather conditions. Now the nematodes actively search for the larvae and fight them. They are completely harmless to humans and pets. The soil should be kept moist for 14 days after application to prevent the nematodes from drying out. Take a look at the simple application in our video.

Frequently asked questions

Are nematodes dangerous for my pets?
No, nematodes are completely harmless to humans and animals. They die at temperatures above 32° C and are therefore unable to survive in the bodies of humans and mammals.

How can I recognise a black vine weevil infestation?
The typical damage pattern in the garden is the characteristic cove feeding on the leaves of ornamental plants. The edges of the leaves are eaten away in a semicircle. This damage is caused by the adult weevil beetles and is primarily visual damage. More serious, however, is the damage caused by the weevil larvae in the soil. The larvae feed on the fine roots of the plants, which disrupts the absorption of nutrients. This can cause the leaves of the plants to turn yellow and die. In severe cases, it can also lead to the total death of the plant.

Which plants are attacked by black vine weevils?
More than 100 different plants are on the menu of these voracious beetles. These pests are most commonly found on rhododendrons, yews, lilacs, azaleas, cotoneasters, ivy, privet, cherry laurel, roses and berries.

Hervorragende Wirkung
